Narrow Path 2008

Everyone who came last year enjoyed the band! Don't miss this opportunity to see them worship outside the church walls and know God is lifted up no matter where they are. Great talent...CCJ is blessed to have them.
Let's be there to help them...hang around the edges of the crowd and let your light shine. There'll be people asking questions about Narrow Path. Let's answer the "call" to take Jesus to the highways and by ways. It's a great time for the whole family.

Mark, will there be roses again?

Understanding Scripture

My family and I visited the Georgia Aquarium yesterday in downtown ATL and, as part of that, saw an exhibit on the doomed Titanic (you know the story I hope).

What struck me most was the stuff we were looking at was things that were once very fancy and worth something to somebody. Now ... it's just an artifact. All of the people who were not the fortunate ones died and now all of the people who survived are now dead as well. For these reasons, all I kept thinking of during the exhibit was the book of Ecclesiastes. (go read it).

All of our works will be relegated to dust one day. The eternal life given to us through Jesus will remain. So WHYWHYWHY do we continue to worship the created instead of the Creator?

"This too is like chasing after the wind."

What This World Needs

You know this has been a depressing few weeks of headlines. Just a sample of some of the news: The king of Pop dies of what seems like a drug overdose. The unemployment rises higher than expected. Steve McNair is murder by his mistress who then takes her own life. Bombs killed more than 50 people in Iraq on Thursday in the worst violence since U.S. combat troops withdrew from urban areas last week.

I could go on and on. Now I don’t share this to depress you. I actually am sharing this to inspire you. Our world needs Jesus…. We need Jesus. That has to always be the number one mission in our lives and in our churches. The world needs what we have to share…. Jesus. That is motivating to me. Last Thursday night I went to a Casting Crowns concert. One of the songs they did spoke right to this point. Check out these lyrics.

What this world needs is not another one hit wonder with an axe to grindAnother two bit politician peddling lies
Another three ring circus society
What this world needs is not another sign waving super saint that's better than you
Another ear pleasing candy man afraid of the truth
Another prophet in an Armani suit
What this world needs is a Savior who will rescueA Spirit who will lead. A Father who will love them in their time of need. A Savior who will rescue. A Spirit who will lead. A Father who will love. That's what this world needs.
What this world needs is for us to care more about the inside than the outside. Have we become so blind that we can't see God's gotta change her heart before He changes her shirt.
What this world needs is for us to stop hiding behind our relevance. Blending in so well that people can't see the difference. And it's the difference that sets the world free.
Jesus is our Savior, that's what this world needs. Father's arms around you, that's what this world needs. That's what this world needs

DEER, OH.....DEAR

These creatures are beautiful to look at, beautiful and graceful.
But when they jump out in front of your van (car) and it's totaled or eat the corn and sweet potato vines from your garden....they lose their appeal!
Has your vehicle ever collided with a deer?

God Bless the U.S.A.

May God continue to bless the United States. Could America be blessed because we're the most generous country in the world? Or does He spare it for the righteous sake? After spending a week in Haiti, I am more THANKFUL for:

A beautiful Home
Electricity...Fridge, washer-dryer, air conditioner (and heat), an indoor stove, TV, etc.
Clean water & Sewers...running water, clean bath water. I can even brush my teeth in it!
Green grass and a lawn to mow.
Windows to wash and a lake to enjoy with a pontoon boat.
A job and enough money to buy what we Need and a lot of stuff we don't.
Family with a long life span and good health and still thank God when they're not.
A BLESSED church to worship God in with wonderful Pastors and friends.
____________________________________ Etc. etc. etc. etc. & etc. !
Fill in the blank for yourself and thank God He chose to let us be "Born in America" !
